Dr Chris Bates is Director of Research & Analytics at TPP and he is responsible for TPP’s work in public health, clinical research and healthcare analytics. Chris joined TPP in 2006 as a software developer, following a post-doctoral academic position in Mathematics at the University of Manchester. He has special interests in the impact of big data on the future of clinical research and the use of data and technology to facilitate improved healthcare outcomes.
Chris currently also holds a position as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Medical Research Council’s Leeds Institute of Data Analytics (LIDA). He has been recognised as one of the top 50 innovators in UK healthcare by the Health Service Journal and was commended as the winner of the Knowledge Base Impact Award by Innovate UK and the strategic partnership of the UK’s seven major Research Councils. Most recently, Chris was part of a team who were awarded the Royal College of Physicians Innovation Award 2017 for their work in the use of electronic health records to improve national standards for frail elderly care.
