On October 1st 2006, The Phoenix Partnership (TPP) became one of the first
primary care clinical system suppliers to electronically submit QOF Messages
to MSDi's software on behalf of Welsh GP practices.
The QOF functionality for practices in Wales is identical to that used by practices
in England but until October, the data collated for Welsh GPs was not sent automatically
from clinical systems through to the processing body, MSDi (equivalent to QMAS
in England).
Now, as well as being able to see how well the practice is doing on SystmOne's
'New QOF Indicators' screen, and monitoring each patient using QOF Alerts, practices
in Wales are benefiting from monthly automatic submissions of their QOF data.
Sending QOF data directly to MSDi from SystmOne saves practices time and resources.
Before October this year, the practice had to collate and send the information
manually. "The Local Health Board sent us forms to fill in every quarter," says
Dr SB Patel of Tyn Y Coed Surgery, Colwyn Bay. "We had to manually transfer data
from the system to the spreadsheet, which was a nightmare. I am hoping that SystmOne
sending the data electronically will save us a lot of time and effort. It will
be lovely for the Local Health Board to be able to go straight to the MSDi website
to see our QOF scores."
“The change was fairly easy to implement,” says TPP programmer, David
Pape. “It’s great that we can now support the Welsh practices in
this way.”
