On May 14th 2007, Overdale Medical Practice in Derby, which has almost 10,500 patients on its books, went live on SystmOne GP, making them the 600th GP practice to do so. The very first SystmOne GP practice went live back in September 1999.
The deployment process can often be stressful and difficult, but Fiona Bates, the IT manager who led the implementation says, "We really haven't had too many problems. Whatever queries we have had have been sorted out over the phone. The support we've had from TPP, CSC and the PCT trainers and project manager has been very good."
Fiona continues, "We were offered a lot of support and training from our PCT when we moved from our legacy system to SystmOne. This helped to make the transition much less painful. As we are going to start Practice-based Commissioning with four other practices we are hoping that SystmOne will help us streamline the internal referrals process, allowing us to view the records of patients based at other practices, add a consultation and send the record back. It will be a much smoother process."
TPP Project Manager, Helen Springer, says, "We work very hard to make sure that all the organisations moving to SystmOne are happy at each stage of the process. We're thrilled to have reached our 600th GP practice milestone and are looking forward to the next big one - the 1,000th!"
