Executive Committee Elected at
First Independent National SystmOne User Group Conference

On 19th May 2009, the first independent SystmOne National User Group conference took place at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester.

180 people attended the event and had the opportunity to network, take part in breakout sessions and a question and answer session and to meet exhibitors from Brother, First Data Bank Europe, Jayex, Panasonic, Phoenix  Healthcare, Primis+ and TPP.

The day kicked off with a welcome from organisers Dr Paul Nathan and Dr Adam Paxton, who thanked Hilary Mellott for her efforts in coordinating the event. This was followed by a talk entitled 'The National Programme - where is it all going?' from Dr Peter Short, the National Clinical Lead for GPs with Connecting for Health. Peter talked about the progress of current CFH projects and concluded that the future of SystmOne looks 'rosy' as it is a highly functional and reliable system that is a strategic fit for the National Programme, and is delivered by an innovative company.

TPP's Clinical Director, Dr John Parry, then spoke about 'The Future of SystmOne' and noted that the first user group conference was "an important day for us all. SystmOne is now firmly established as a major player in the NHS IT stable thanks to you, its users. It is supporting those who are driving forward change, enabling new ways of working and challenging the received wisdom. We are very proud of that, and very proud of what our users have achieved within their health communities."

The afternoon gave delegates the opportunity to attend workshops presented by other SystmOne users, and then, following a brief address by Dave Marsden, Chief Information Officer of NHS East Midlands, to take part in a question and answer session with a panel of the day's speakers. Topics raised included mobile working and how SystmOne will integrate with Lorenzo.

The conference also held a raffle which raised £220 for St Barnabas Hospice and Rainbows Children's Hospice.

Executive Committee Elected

For the National User Group to function effectively, it is important that it has a committee comprised of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who represent the wide range of care settings using SystmOne across the country.

Nominations for committee members were submitted either prior to or during the conference. Nominations exceeded the desired number of ten by three. The conference agreed to elect all thirteen members to the committee rather than conduct a ballot. Drs Paxton and Nathan stressed that this is intended to be an interim committee and that as time goes by, it is hoped that it will grow to cover more care settings and geographical areas.

The thirteen members of the independent SystmOne National User Group Committee are (in alphabetical order):
