Two New Training Development Leads at TPP
In order to ensure that TPP provides the best end-user and Train the Trainer sessions, two of our most senior trainers have now begun new roles as 'Training Development Leads'. Richard Crossley and Becky Hawkins have been with the company for five and four years respectively, and started their new jobs in January of this year.
Becky says, "As Training Development Leads, we play much more of a role in the development and management of the TPP Training Team. We act as 'buddies' for our new starters, making sure that they are happy and confident with the training they deliver."
The new role goes beyond managing TPP's trainers to engaging NHS trainers across the country. Richard says, "Our ultimate aim is to make sure that SystmOne users get the best training possible, whether it's from TPP, from local NHS trainers, or through CSC. To do that, we're working at building better relationships with the NHS and putting a structured process in place for the training and accreditation of NHS trainers."
To do this, Richard and Becky are devising and supporting Train the Trainer courses, including providing the accompanying documentation and assessments. The aim is to have at least one TPP-accredited NHS trainer in every area of the country. These are experienced people who have done the basic Train the Trainer course, spent several months or more working with SystmOne users, and then passed the accreditation. Once they have achieved this, they are qualified to run their own Train the Trainer sessions and to provide top-up training sessions to other NHS trainers.
Becky says, "We want to meet the ETD (Education, Training and Development) Leads for each area so that we can work closely together, find out how they work and how we can help them. If we can share our knowledge with them; for example, showing them the easiest way to do something on SystmOne, it will benefit them and their end users. We did this recently in Essex, and it really worked."
Despite doing a lot more work 'behind the scenes', Becky and Richard are still very much hands-on, demonstrating, training and troubleshooting with SystmOne users. Becky says, "We want to visit more SystmOne users - from now on, as well as training, we'll be popping in whenever we can just to show our faces and make sure everything's Ok."
So six months in, are Becky and Richard settled in their new roles? Becky says, "I'm really enjoying it, I like the challenge and the variety of the work."
Richard agrees, "This job is exciting because we've got the chance to make things better and we're seeing an improvement across the board for NHS trainers."
The training team is now 16 strong with staff based right across England. The latest additions to the team are Katie Goodier, who joined us in May and is based in Devon, and Adam Deakin, who joined us in July and is based in Lincolnshire. If you see them out and about, please make them feel welcome!
