SystmOne Homeless
According to housing charity, Shelter, 30-50% of
homeless people experience mental health problems
and 70% misuse drugs. The average life expectancy of
a homeless person is 42, and homeless people suffer
high rates of TB, respiratory problems and skin
diseases. Despite this, homeless people are 40 times
more likely than the general population not to be
registered with a GP.

It is extremely difficult to track and keep single records
for homeless patients who may be living on the street or
may simply be of no fixed abode. The government and
homeless charities face considerable obstacles in
counting and keeping track of a highly fluid and socially
excluded population.
The homeless must contend with poor nutrition and
hygiene, as well as frequent assaults and accidents.
Clinicians who care for the homeless see high levels of a
higher-than-normal demand for health care. They face
logistical problems; typically, they will be working in
difficult surroundings and won't have access to reception
staff, prescribing clerks, and administrative support. The
lack of a usual GP, NHS registration number and also
possibly the lack of a complete patient record can be
major obstacles for a clinician.
TPP has developed SystmOne Homeless to overcome
these wide-ranging difficulties.
SystmOne Homeless contains all of the features of SystmOne GP and SystmOne Rehab, allowing you to take advantage of instalment dispensing using the FP10 MDA form. Double doses for Sundays and Public Holidays are supported through instalment dispensing.
SystmOne Homeless integrates seamlessly with SystmOne Urgent Care. This is important because many homeless people use A&E as a drop-in surgery. Any name or alias may be used and an NHS number is not required.
There can be few groups as difficult to care for as the homeless, yet they are amongst our most needy patients. Clinicians who care for the homeless do so despite the challenges they face. It's only when you really understand the problems that you can hope to create a solution, and this is what we at TPP have done. We have taken into account all of the clinical, logistical, and administrative issues of caring for the homeless, and bring you a mobile, highly flexible, fast and functional product in SystmOne Homeless.
