Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust has decided to make the switch to SystmOne to support their inpatient and outpatient services. Alongside its community based services, the Trust provides consultant led outpatient services and inpatient services for frail elderly and older people with mental health conditions. With support from the ‘Safer Hospitals, Safer Wards’ Technology Fund, the Trust has decided to replace its current patient administration system (PAS) with SystmOne to help deliver their ambition for integrated electronic patient records.
There are already more than 70% of practices across Derbyshire using SystmOne and the area also has child health services and 18 community services using the system. The extensive coverage meant it was an obvious decision to move to SystmOne.
Alvaro Pancisi, Head of Informatics said “Using SystmOne for inpatients and outpatients gives us a great opportunity to develop a rich electronic patient record which will support our clinicians in delivering the highest quality clinical care. A patient’s clinical information will be instantly available, not only across the Trusts services but also to other clinical colleagues across Derbyshire. Shared clinical information means a more efficient health service and more importantly, a better service for patients across Derbyshire.”
TPP has already begun the project and taken an initial cut of the data that will need to be migrated across to SystmOne. The PAS functionality used by the Trust will be replaced first, by the end of March 2015. Additional clinical functionality, including bed management and e-prescribing will then be implemented from that point through to the summer of 2015.
