All I want...
..is a bed management system
All you want is SystmOne
SystmOne's bed management system can be used separately with your existing PAS or alongside other SystmOne functionality. So whatever your other IT needs, SystmOne is here to manage your beds, and therefore your hospital, in a user-friendly, simple and efficient way.
SystmOne has been written directly for the NHS in Great Britain, in conjunction with clinicians and hospital staff. It's designed for you and only for you.
Secondary care teams who have seen our bed management system want it in their hospitals and day-care units - in fact, they want it anywhere they have beds to manage.
When we were designing SystmOne's bed management system, clinicians told us that if we could make a screen flash when a patient has unread pathology results, we'd transform their working life. So that's just one of the things we've done.
"I can see what's going on
at any level of the hospital -
that's great!"
SystmOne has a grid view or geographical ward view that can be displayed on a standard monitor or a touch screen, providing up-to-date information on patients in a usable way. Clinicians don't have to spend time retrieving a patient record and hunting for information. From one screen, they can see exactly where a patient is, and can see whether they have new pathology or radiology results to view, or whether they have any of a range of status markers showing that they are, for example, prone to falls, are diabetic, on a special diet, or have an infection such as MRSA.

An example of the Bed Management Ward View screen. The screen can show a geographical view of any part of the organisation, from the whole building, down to a single patient or bed. To see a larger version of this screenshot, click here. Please note all screenshots contain fictional data.
With traditional bed management systems, a member of staff would need to find out the relevant information and then update a whiteboard so that other members of the team had access to it. With SystmOne, this is all done automatically and in real time. If the screen is in a public area, it can also be anonymised to maintain patient confidentiality.
The geographical ward view also allows you to easily see affected and surrounding beds in the case of an outbreak of infection such as MRSA.
SystmOne's bed management system isn't just about a flashy touch screen - the functionality behind it is sound and comprehensive. Beds can be reserved for or allocated to patients who can then be moved to another bed or transferred/discharged. Beds can be marked as open/closed/dirty. The system supports the concept of 'patient leave' and 'lodgers'.
Bed cleaning across the organisation can be managed from a single screen, helping you to achieve bed cleaning targets.
There are extensive reporting capabilities to analyse the usage of your beds over time.
As SystmOne is a centralised system, bed booking can be managed from a central point, even across several different hospitals. As such, it aids disaster management as you can see availability at all organisations in the trust from one central location.
If you don't use the SystmOne PAS, SystmOne can listen to messages (e.g. ADT messages, pathology and radiology) from other systems or your trust's integration engine to keep patient information up-to-date without dual entry.
Whether you run a 15 or a 1,500 bed hospital, we have the solution you need to manage every single one of your beds.
